CREATIVE PROJECTS FOR WOMEN IN MANCHESTER
CREATIVE CITY FOR WOMEN
Creative City runs empowering creative projects for women. Our projects enable women to have fun, gain confidence, improve their wellbeing, connect to their community, influence the world around them, and lead social change.
Our women's projects are for cis and trans women, as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centres on the experiences of women.
CURRENT WOMEN'S PROJECTS
Our current projects are:
Tuesday Craft Group in Gorton in partnership with Arcon Housing Association (full)
Friday Monthly Craft & Wellbeing Group in Levenshulme
Weekly Craft and Wellbeing project on Thursday Afternoons in 422 Longsight
HOW IT FEELS TO BE PART OF OUR WOMEN'S PROJECTS
PAST WOMEN'S PROJECTS
One of our core projects is She Made That, an empowering craft project. We ran pilots in 2018 and in 2020/21, and we are currently seeking funding for the next one.
She Made That craft and enterprise project (2020/21) in Levenshulme, Longsight, Gorton and Rusholme & online. This was a six month project supporting a cohort of 25 women to build their confidence and wellbeing, and to work towards their goals. Through weekly craft sessions, mentoring and sales opportunities. Culminating in a showcase and market at Levenshulme Old Library.
She Made That project (2018) in Longsight, working with local women's groups making lino prints, protest banners, and body scrubs and celebrating with an event showcasing work from our groups and other local women artists.
